Japan's White Oak has created a Deluxe edition of its Akashi Meïsei blended whisky. Combining a 50/50 blend of malted barley and grain, matured in American oak, the whisky is then treated to a final year of finishing in sherry casks. That sherry character shines, bringing notes of figs and dried fruit, cushioning layers of vanilla, toffee, and citrus fruit.
Tasting Note
Nose White chocolate, honey drizzled fruit, orange oil, and chocolate raisins.
Palate Mellow oak brings drying spice, countered by prunes and candied nuts. Toffee creeps, with hints of cinnamon, and buttery vanilla.
Finish Candied fruits, figs, and dates join, with a dusting of cocoa, and more woody spice.
