-------------------
This publication from 1990 gives a narrative and pictorial history of St. George’s FC, from the glory pre-war days till the thick and thin that the club experienced throughout the seventies and eighties.
The book covers in detail the early years, mainly the epic encounters against Floriana, the classic victory over HMS Duncan with a goal scored by Ġużi Tagliaferro (grandfather of Fr. Hilary) and the 1914 St. George’s football tour of Tunis, which represented the first ever football matches played by a local side abroad.
Some historical pictures show the sides of St. George’s which won against Floriana both in 1894 and 1900 (the historical ‘Logħba tal-Murina’), the team which won against HMS Duncan and HMS Suffolk, the St. George’s party that travelled to Tunis in 1914 and photos of the Cups won by the club during that same era.
The last 30 pages are for statistic lovers as these pages cover all the club Football league results together with the league tables plus the results obtained by St. George’s against foreign opposition including the Christmas Tourneys.
